Helping Each Other can Make World Better
•Gender Based and Intimate (GI-Desk) is a nonpartisan, apolitical, nonreligious, charitable non-profit making organization to support people experiencing gender based and intimate partner violence.
GI-Desk is an NGO registered in August 2023 in response to high gender based violence. With limited resources, we offered counselling services while relying on donations and volunteering work.
In the face of gender-based violence, silence is complicity. We must stand united, challenging the norms that allow it to persist. Together, let’s be the voices that echo against abuse, the hands that lift survivors, and the hearts that refuse to let this culture endure. Change begins when we stand as one.

OUR TESTIMONIALS
I didn’t know where to turn at first, but coming here was the best decision I made. GI-DESK gave me someone to talk to who actually understood, without judgment. The team listened to my story and helped me understand that I wasn’t alone. They even helped me with legal advice, which was such a relief because I had no idea where to start. My only wish is that there were more counselors available, as sometimes it took a while to get an appointment. But overall, I feel so much stronger and more hopeful now."

As a man, I hesitated to seek help, but the GI-DESK staff was so welcoming that I immediately felt I belonged. They never made me feel uncomfortable about my experience. I attended group counseling, which was actually life-changing because I connected with others who knew what I was going through. I will always appreciate the understanding and safe space they offered. Sometimes, I think the organization could benefit from more resources to expand these group sessions since they’ve been so helpful. The support I received gave me back my sense of self-worth.

GI-DESK was my refuge in the darkest time of my life. They helped me with safe housing when I had nowhere else to go. The staff went out of their way to make sure I felt safe and comfortable. It was a complete package: emotional support, a roof over my head, and even help to eventually find a job. I feel grateful every day that I found them. The wait time to get into housing was a bit stressful, but I’m just thankful they had a place for me in the end. I honestly don’t know where I’d be now without them.

The best part about GI-DESK was that I felt like they genuinely cared. From helping me with legal paperwork to offering trauma counseling, they provided everything I needed to start healing. I found strength I didn’t know I had, thanks to the encouragement and the skills they taught me. The only improvement I would suggest is maybe having more staff available for check-ins because sometimes I wished for a bit more guidance in between sessions. But even so, I am forever grateful for their dedication and compassion.
